ABOUT THIS PROGRAMME
Multiskilled Artisan Development
Equip learners with the theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and workplace experience to install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot both electrical and mechanical equipment and systems in industrial, manufacturing, and engineering environments.
Occupational Readiness
Prepare learners to work as qualified Millwrights (artisans) who can:
- Read and interpret mechanical and electrical engineering drawings and schematics
- Install, align, maintain, and repair mechanical machinery, gearboxes, conveyors, motors, and pumps
- Install, connect, and fault-find on electrical systems, circuits, and control panels
- Perform preventative maintenance and respond to equipment breakdowns safely and efficiently
Compliance with Industry Standards
Ensure learners are trained to meet QCTO (Quality Council for Trades and Occupations) and NAMB (National Artisan Moderation Body) requirements for trade certification, combining competencies from both electrical and mechanical disciplines.
Support National Skills Development
Address the shortage of multi-skilled artisans by producing competent Millwrights who can reduce production downtime, enhance operational efficiency, and support growth in key industries such as mining, power generation, food processing, automotive manufacturing, and heavy engineering.
Minimum Admission requirements
Minimum: NQF Level 1 / Grade 9 with Mathematics pass. Preference will be given to candidates who have completed Grade 11 – 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science.)
