ABOUT THIS PROGRAMME
Skilled Artisan Development
Equip learners with the theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and workplace experience needed to manufacture, fit, assemble, maintain, and repair mechanical components and systems used in industrial and engineering environments.
Occupational Readiness
Prepare learners to work as qualified Fitters and Turners (artisans) who can:
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Perform precision fitting, turning, milling, drilling, and grinding operations
- Use a wide range of hand tools, measuring instruments, and machine tools safely
- Conduct fault-finding, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment and systems
Compliance with Industry Standards
Ensure learners are trained to meet QCTO (Quality Council for Trades and Occupations) and NAMB (National Artisan Moderation Body) requirements for trade certification.
Support National Skills Development
Contribute to addressing the shortage of qualified artisans in South Africa by producing competent Fitters and Turners who can support the manufacturing, mining, engineering, and maintenance sectors to improve productivity and industrial growth.
Minimum Admission requirements
Grade 9-11. Preference will be given to candidates who have completed Grade 11 with Mathematics and Physical Science.)
Minimum 16 years old
