ABOUT THIS PROGRAMME
The Skills Programmes in Welding, Spray Painting and Panel Beating provide learners with the opportunity to develop competencies and acquire new skills, irrespective of their academic and/or technical background.
The Skills Programmes aim to develop competencies that will enable learners to:
- Address skills gaps in the labour market.
- Identify opportunities for skills development.
- Apply knowledge and skills that are meaningful to their own lives.
- Promote lifelong learning.
- Acquire skills that could lead to self-employment.
Minimum Admission requirements
- Incomplete Grade 9
- Incomplete NQF Level 1/Incomplete ABET Level 4
- School of Skills Year 4 report with relevant trade subjects completed on Level 3 or Level 4
- Candidates requesting upskilling or reskilling
- Candidates with prior work experience but no formal qualifications
OUTCOMES
Learners completing the qualification will be able to:
- Understand, demonstrate and apply acquired knowledge and skills to the world of work
- Demonstrate basic skills that will enable them to create their work.
- Apply acquired skills to business opportunities in the contexts in which they live.
- Receive a False Bay TVET College certificate.

6 to 7 weeks full-time

- Basic feather edging and sanding
- Basic masking of a vehicle
Panel Beating
- Workshop Safety
- Housekeeping
- Training in the Motor Industry
- First Aid in the Workshop
- Grind sheet metal using power tools.
- Basic Gas Welding
- Basic Brazing Metal Components
- Basic MIG Welding
