About this programme

ABOUT THIS PROGRAMME

The Skills Programmes in Welding, Spray Painting and Panel Beating provide learners with the opportunity to develop competencies and acquire new skills, irrespective of their academic and/or technical background.

The Skills Programmes aim to develop competencies that will enable learners to:

  • Address skills gaps in the labour market.
  • Identify opportunities for skills development.
  • Apply knowledge and skills that are meaningful to their own lives.
  • Promote lifelong learning.
  • Acquire skills that could lead to self-employment.
Minimum Admission requirements

Minimum Admission requirements

  • Incomplete Grade 9
  • Incomplete NQF Level 1/Incomplete ABET Level 4
  • School of Skills Year 4 report with relevant trade subjects completed on Level 3 or Level 4
  • Candidates requesting upskilling or reskilling
  • Candidates with prior work experience but no formal qualifications
Career Opportunities

OUTCOMES

Learners completing the qualification will be able to:

  • Understand, demonstrate and apply acquired knowledge and skills to the world of work
  • Demonstrate basic skills that will enable them to create their work.
  • Apply acquired skills to business opportunities in the contexts in which they live.
  • Receive a False Bay TVET College certificate.

  • Basic MIC Welding
  • Basie TIG Welding
  • Basic Gas Cutting
  • Basic Gas/Brazing Training

Spray Painting

  • Workshop Safety
  • Housekeeping
  • Training in the Motor Industry
  • First Aid in the Workshop
  • Servicing and use of a spray gun
  • Basic feather edging and sanding
  • Basic masking of a vehicle

Panel Beating

  • Workshop Safety
  • Housekeeping
  • Training in the Motor Industry
  • First Aid in the Workshop
  • Grind sheet metal using power tools.
  • Basic Gas Welding
  • Basic Brazing Metal Components
  • Basic MIG Welding
  • Basic Plasma-arc Metal Cutting
