From Student to Changemaker: Ursula Pietersen’s Journey in Inclusive Early Childhood Development

Ursula Pietersen’s journey is one of passion, perseverance, and purpose. Growing up with a heart full of compassion, she always knew she wanted to make a difference in the lives of children. Her dream took shape when she enrolled at False Bay College, studying at both the Muizenberg and Khayelitsha Campuses. There, Ursula pursued her studies in Early Childhood Development (ECD) with an unshakable commitment to excellence.

Through hard work and dedication, Ursula obtained her NQF Level 4, NQF Level 5, and ultimately her Diploma Level 5 in ECD. Each qualification became more than just a milestone—it was a testament to her unwavering belief in the power of education to transform lives. She immersed herself in understanding the unique needs of young learners, always guided by her love for children and her vision of creating safe, nurturing environments for them to thrive.

Ursula’s career path led her to a Centre for Autistic Learners, where she dedicated herself to supporting children with special needs. Her patience, creativity, and compassion left a lasting impact on both the learners and their families. She became known not only for her skills but also for her warmth and the respect she showed every child.

Today, Ursula Pietersen has expanded her influence as an Inclusive ECD Consultant, helping centres and educators implement inclusive practices. Her journey from a passionate student to a professional shaping the future of early childhood education is a true inspiration. She reminds us that with dedication, education, and love, we can create spaces where every child belongs and flourishes.
