Cape Town, South Africa | False Bay TVET College is strengthening its position as a leader in entrepreneurship development and is inviting businesses, industry partners, and Corporate Social Investment (CSI) programmes to join its mission of empowering young entrepreneurs and driving economic growth.
In a significant milestone for the College, Ms Nafeesa Dinie has been invited by the Director-General of the Department of Small Business Development (DSBD) to serve on the National Entrepreneurship Strategy (NES) Forum as a member of the Improving Entrepreneurship Education and Skills Development Subcommittee.
The appointment coincides with another major achievement for the College. At the Allan Gray Inspire Entrepreneurship Inter-College Competition 2026 Regional Finals held in Upington, False Bay TVET College secured both first and second place in the Tech Business category.
Lyle Boonzaaier claimed first place, while Sethu Klaas secured second place, earning the College a place at the National Finals and further demonstrating the calibre of entrepreneurial talent emerging from the institution.
The College’s recent achievements build on an already impressive entrepreneurship track record.
Among its notable success stories is former student entrepreneur Rashaad Sambaba, who was crowned one of the 2025 Allan Gray Inspire National TVET Entrepreneurship Competition winners in the General Business category. Since then, he has gone on to win the City of Cape Town Youth Startup Business Competition and has recently been recognised as a Top 40 Under 40 nominee, demonstrating the long-term impact of entrepreneurial education and support.
These success stories illustrate the transformative value of entrepreneurship programmes. Beyond developing business ideas, entrepreneurship education cultivates resilience, creativity, innovation, critical thinking, leadership, and problem-solving skills that prepare students to thrive in a rapidly evolving economy.
By combining technical training with entrepreneurial capability, TVET institutions create graduates who are equipped not only to seek employment but also to become job creators, innovators, and contributors to economic growth.
