Breaking Barriers in Automotive Spray Painting

Driven by a deep passion for cars and creativity, Nobuhle Anna Ndandani chose to pursue Automotive Spray Painting at False Bay TVET College—a decision that would shape her career and ignite her purpose. She was drawn to the College’s strong reputation for practical learning, knowing it would equip her with the hands-on skills and industry exposure needed to succeed.

Her journey at False Bay TVET College was both rewarding and empowering. The supportive lecturers and intensive 70% practical training gave her the confidence and expertise to thrive in a male-dominated industry. Although mastering complex spray-painting techniques was challenging, Nobuhle overcame these hurdles through determination, constant practice, and mentorship from her lecturers.

Through her learnership, Nobuhle gained invaluable experience working at panel-beating companies every six months, where she honed her skills in attention to detail, teamwork, and problem-solving. Her first job as a paint preparer strengthened her technical foundation and opened doors for further growth. Despite facing workplace challenges, such as others being reluctant to share knowledge, Nobuhle’s perseverance, humility, and dedication helped her earn respect and continue progressing in her career.

Today, Nobuhle continues to excel in the automotive industry and remains passionate about mentoring and empowering others. She often assists young people with college applications and shares opportunities to promote artisan careers. Her ultimate dream is to own her own spray-painting workshop and partner with schools to raise awareness about the value of trade skills.

Nobuhle’s story is one of resilience, purpose, and empowerment, proving that with passion, patience, and persistence, success is achievable through skills education.
