Lebohang Ruiters – From Determined Student to Permanent Employee

When Lebohang Ruiters enrolled at False Bay TVET College’s Fish Hoek Campus for a Diploma in Management Assistant, she was determined to make the most of every opportunity. Inspired by the dedication of staff, the College’s track record of graduate success, and its accessibility, Lebohang embraced her studies even starting her journey during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Despite obstacles, including a difficult diploma application process, Lebohang stayed consistent, showing up, following up, and never losing sight of her goal. After completing her N6, she signed up for Work Integrated Learning, securing her in-service training at Living Hope Organisation as a receptionist. Her dedication led to a fixed-term contract, and when that ended, she wasted no time job hunting immediately and securing a new receptionist role the very same day after her interview. Within five months, she was made permanent.

Lebohang credits False Bay TVET College for equipping her with advanced computer skills, professionalism, and workplace readiness, enabling her to thrive in various departments. She now looks forward to graduating in October while continuing to grow in her career.

Her advice to others: “Direction is more important than speed. Be consistent, show up for yourself, and never give up. Your background does not determine your destiny.”

From navigating challenges to achieving permanent employment, Lebohang’s journey is proof that resilience and perseverance truly open doors.
