Simnikiwe Ngcaws completed a National Certificate (Vocational): Finance, Economics and Accounting Level 4 and Accounting Technician AS(SA) Level 4 in December 2018. Maintaining her top achiever status, she achieved 17 distinctions in her 21 subjects completed for the NC(V) programme.
While maintaining her good class aggregates, Simnikiwe was an active member of the Student Representative Council. A member of the book reading club, she wrote eight book reviews to win the 2015 book reading competition.
Her hard work was rewarded when False Bay TVET College facilitated an opportunity to study in the USA in 2019–2020, as part of the Community College Initiative Programme. There, while refining her technical skills in business management and administration specialising in banking and finance, she participated in personal development programmes, made the Dean’s List for two semesters and discovered a keen interest in mental health and well-being.
Upon her return home, her notable achievements helped Simnikiwe to land her current job as an Accounting Clerk at Esterhuyse and Associates where she enjoys implementing her acquired knowledge while dealing with clients’ personal accounting information and the staff payroll.
When not working, Simnikiwe continues to develop her growing knowledge of mental health and shares her learnings and motivation on her personal YouTube channel.
Simnikiwe says she advises anyone considering studying to study at False Bay TVET College. She says, “There is an amazing support structure which you just need to access, opportunities you just need to apply for and new experiences that will teach you things about yourself.”
