Fish Hoek Campus Empower Student Entrepreneurs Through "Impact at Work" Program

Cape Town, False Bay TVET College, in collaboration with MTN Enactus, has embarked on an innovative partnership to foster student entrepreneurship through the “Impact at Work” program. The initiative, which began at the Fish Hoek Campus, is a testament to the commitment of these organizations to empower the next generation of business leaders.

Overview of the “Impact at Work” Program:

The “Impact at Work” program, funded by MTN and facilitated by Enactus, is designed to drive student entrepreneurship. This year, False Bay TVET College Fish Hoek Campus took the lead, with plans to expand the program to all five campuses in the coming year. The program consists of a three-fold approach, involving a 2-day bootcamp, an online learning phase, and a final phase where students pitch their business ideas to a panel of judges.

Current Status of the Program:

Over 50 students from False Bay College Fish Hoek Campus enthusiastically participated in the 2-day bootcamp, supported by Mr. Walker, the Coordinator, and Ms. Susan Mhakure, the Campus Manager. The program, consisting of 10 modules, challenges students to complete the STEPs Entrepreneurial Program. Upon successful completion, learners will have the opportunity to pitch their business ideas to a panel of judges in the upcoming weeks.

Next Steps and National Competition:

The Top 5 winners from False Bay College will advance to the national competition in Johannesburg, scheduled for December 4th and 5th, 2023. MTN will sponsor the travel and logistics for all five students and Mr. Walker, the Coordinator. The event promises not only fierce competition but also valuable networking opportunities for students to connect with peers from other TVET colleges. The event, hosted by funding partners MTN and Enactus, will feature great prizes for the finalists.
