False Bay TVET College Swartklip Project Steering Commitee

Dear Valued Stakeholder

We take great pleasure in announcing the following community representatives that will serve on the False Bay TVET College Swartklip Project Steering Committee: (in alphabetical order) Danny Ras, Funeka Mavuso, Funeka Mpetha, Igshaan Carstens, Jacques Baartman, Joseph Jacobs, Khaya Nini, Marshal Nelson, Mzi Kurta, Mzwandile Mwahla, Ndithini Tyhido, Nonho Mthakatha, Odwa Somagqabi,  Siyabulela Mbalo, Thobela Gubudela and Zolile Thyolweni.

We are pleased to inform you that False Bay TVET College (FBC) has concluded the appointment of the prime contractor for the construction of the Swartklip Campus project. GVK-Siya Zama Building Contractors has been appointed as the prime contractor for a tendered amount of R 139 646 464,94 inclusive of Vat. The site hand-over for the project is scheduled for June 2021.

FBC acknowledges the need to create and develop sustainable communities that will address social and economic needs. It is with this notion in mind that False Bay College has identified an opportunity to contribute to developing sustainable communities through the Swartklip Campus project. Whilst the primary objective of the project is to bring education closer to the doorsteps of our communities, the project has the potential of addressing unemployment, developing of emerging SMMEs and providing training and transfer of skills.

In order to establish a framework that will effectively address the development of sustainable communities through the project, we wish to advise you that FBC has appointed Transynergy to assume the role of a Social Facilitator on the project.

Transynergy is tasked to undertake the following;

  • Continuously engaging with stakeholders throughout the project life cycle
  • Ensuring the participation of local SMMEs on the project
  • Establish a Project Steering Committee that will act as a communication medium between the community and FBC
  • Assist FBC in achieving socio-economic development targets

A transparent and Open to All policy has been adopted on the Social Facilitation process, which provides stakeholders a platform and opportunity to engage with Transynergy on matters pertaining to the construction of Swartklip Campus. Stakeholders are urged to contact Transynergy for queries, comments and suggestions on the Swartklip Project.
