Mitchell's Plain Campus

False Bay TVET College has had a presence in the Mitchell’s Plain area for the past 15 years, offering funded post-Matric Business Studies programmes to the youth of the surrounding communities.

The construction of a state-of-the-art campus in Mitchell’s Plain for surrounding communities is a long-held dream of False Bay TVET College. In February 2019, the Minister of Higher Education and Training announced that the building of a permanent Mitchell’s Plain campus would be funded by the Department of Higher Education and Training. This Campus will officially open in 2024.

Meanwhile, FBC Mitchell’s Plain Campus has relied on temporary accommodation at Buckingham Primary School for the past 3 years.
The WCED requires the building to accommodate the large volume of learners who are starting school in 2022. The Mitchell’s Plain Campus is therefore required to move.

The College management pursued various options and after much deliberation, a temporary relocation of the Mitchells Plain Campus to Cedar High School was negotiated. A portion of the schools’ grounds will be utilised to construct the temporary campus. Students will be accommodated in classrooms that are purpose-built to ensure that quality teaching and learning can continue uninterrupted.
We look forward to welcoming our students to our Mitchells Plain Campus in January 2022.

We thank the Principal of Cedar High School, Mrs Groeneveldt for affording the College the opportunity to use a portion of the schools’ grounds for the erection of temporary classrooms.

Yours sincerely

Meet the Campus Manager

Souchan Gasant-Jackson
Campus Manager- Mitchells Plain

An advocate of tough love, Ms Souchan Gasant-Jackson has been in the employment of False Bay TVET College since 2001. A multi-dimensional personality, Ms Jackson enjoys keeping fit, travelling & playing the piano, – when not at the campus you will find her at the gymnasium. She believes that health and fitness are not only about physical appearance, but it is also about being mentally and emotionally fit that will largely influence your day to day life. She encourages young people to travel & know the world –
“travelling will encourage young people to experience life in different ways and in doing so add value to their own.”
Passionate about her student’s success, Ms Jackson strives for academic excellence and is always looking for means to enhance her students’ college experience. She is often the student go-to person in challenging times. Ms Jackson is an advocate for the Henry Ward Beecher quote: “Troubles are often the tools by which God fashions us for better things.”
