Former Student Leads City of Cape Town Team

Hailing from the small town of Qumbu in the Eastern Cape, Viwe Matolweni developed a passion for Architectural Design and she went on to study Building and Civil Construction at the College of Cape Town. It did not take her long to realize that she needed to understand the practical aspects of building to ultimately fulfill her objectives.

Viwe started working at the City of Cape Town and embarked on a CBMT course in Masonry at False Bay College in 2013.  She was the only female in her class and received a Top Achiever's Award at the College's Annual Awards ceremony held in June 2014.

The driving force behind what she does is definitely passion and Viwe says, 'If you love what you do, nothing will stop you.'

In the future she would love to qualify as an engineer.  She is fast on track to her second goal to be a team leader at the City of Cape Town’s depots and already has her own team reporting to her.

Viwe is a gracious individual saying that her team do not report to her; they merely work together to get the job done.
