After months of handwork and precision coordination, 45 students and support staff of False Bay TVET College danced their way down the Green Point Fan-walk at the 10th Cape Town Carnival, 16 March 2019.
Cape Town, 8 April 2019. False Bay TVET College has received confirmation of the approval of its long-cherished project to establish a College campus in Mitchell’s Plain, Cape Town. Minister Naledi Pandor has announced that the world-class facility, to be built at a cost of R383 million, will serve Mitchell’s Plain, Strandfontein and the surrounding communities.
The new campus underlines the continued phenomenal expansion of the College, which is perennially among the top-performing TVET colleges in South Africa.
The 8th Cape Town International Animation Film Festival, proudly presented by Animation SA, took place from 8th to 10th of March 2019 at the River Club in Observatory, Cape Town.
The star-studded programme included none other than Peter Ramsey, director of the recent Golden Globe and Oscar winning Best Animated Feature, “Spider-man: Into the Spider-Verse”.
After an intense 3 days of competition at the Durban ICC for the National WorldSkills Competition, 23 of 65 medals over 19 categories were won by the WorldSkills Western Cape Team.
False Bay TVET College claimed 1 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze, ranking them the best amongst their peers nationally in their field of study.
The False Bay TVET College 2D Animation group intake of 2018 are approaching the end of their 12-month course which will see them certified in 2D Animation. They recently had the fantastic opportunity of getting insider information on how to: build a professional digital portfolio, create an online presence to apply for animation work both locally and internationally, and how to be a professional in this growing industry. All this from the talented, warm and down to earth Lamb Chamberlin; Art Director for the most talked about animated series of 2018 – ‘She-Ra and the Princesses of Power’, from DreamWorks studios.
