World Skills Provincial Challenge Team Announced

Cape Town, 08 December 2016. Western Cape finalists and winners of the provincial leg of the WSSA (WorldSkills South Africa) competition were announced at a ceremony held at the College of Cape Town, Crawford Campus. The finalists and winners are from the provincial Public TVET Colleges, Private College students, industry apprentices and employees to represent who entered the national competition.

The event brought together the proud parents, academic staff, sponsors and students to celebrate the success of the top performing candidates in each of the skills area. The winners at the National Competition will represent South Africa at the international World Skills Competition in Abu Dhabi come October 2017.

The regional challenges saw 61 students under the age of 23 compete in 17 vocational skills areas. The two top performing students in each vocation will represent the Western Cape team. Participants competed in: Autobody Repair, Autobody Technology, Beauty Therapy, Bricklaying, Car Painting, CNC Turning, Cooking, Electrical Installations, Graphic Design, Hairdressing, IT Network Systems Administration, IT Software Solution for Business, Plumbing & Heating, Refrigeration & Air-conditioning, Restaurant Service, Web Design and Welding.
