
National Certificate: Educare
About this programme:
If you enjoy working with children between the ages of birth to 4 years then this career is for you. If you are passionate about children’s' education and preparing them for grade R then this programme would suit you. It includes equipping you to stimulate the child and creating interesting, stimulating and fun activities.
Admission requirements:
Possession of a Senior Certificate is a requirement for admission, Grade 12 or NQF level 4 in ECD-at least 40% per instructional offering-English must be one of these subjects
NCV level 4 with a minimum of 40% for Maths or maths lit; Minimum 50% for English and LO and all subjects passed
Career opportunities:
With this qualification you can pursue a career as a Day Care Manager, Pre-School Teacher, Au Pair or entrepreneur.
Vocational Activities:
• Paediatric first aid training
• How to stimulate and sees children between the ages of 0-4 years in any relevant context
• Training on the National Curriculum framework
Course Content:
Students complete three certificates (N4-N6) and 18 months of in-service training, at the end of which a Diploma in Educare is awarded. The course structure is laid out so that you can follow a stream that suits your requirement. The subjects for the various streams are as follows:

Duration:
Each level takes 6 Months full time to complete (total of 18 months to complete the theory) and then 18 months practical. Generally, it takes 3 years to qualify for a National Diploma.
Qualification:
A National N Diploma in Educare is awarded on successful completion of this programme.
