Swartklip Campus

Development of the FBC Swartklip Campus

Dear Valued Stakeholder

We are pleased to inform you that our much-anticipated construction project of the False Bay TVET College (FBC) Swartklip Campus is scheduled to commence in 2020. The project entails renovations and upgrades of the existing Swartklip Site in order to develop it into a flagship campus that offers various engineering programmes.

We acknowledge the need to create and develop sustainable communities that will address social and economic needs. It is with this notion in mind that   False Bay TVET College has identified an opportunity to contribute to developing sustainable communities through the Swartklip Campus project. Whilst the primary objective of the project is to bring education closer to the doorsteps of our communities, the project has the potential of addressing unemployment, development of emerging SMMEs and provide training and transfer of skills.

In order to establish a framework that will effectively address the development of sustainable communities through the project, we wish to advise you that FBC has appointed Thero Services to assume the role of a Social Facilitator on the project. Background
Location: Swartklip Campus: c/o Swartklip and Morgenster Road, Khayelitsha,7784
The Swartklip Campus is the College’s next catalytic project, set to trigger positive transformation in the surrounding communities of Mitchell’s Plain and Khayelitsha in Cape Town. Located at the former Denel munitions testing grounds, the site offers acres of land and solid building structures which will be refurbished into state-of-the-art workshops and classroom spaces.

The Centre Of Specialisation: Rigging opened its doors in 2019 for the first student intake into the Rigging Programme. Offering programmes in the priority artisan trades, the Swartklip campus will accommodate an estimated 3 000 students a year once fully operational, making a major contribution to the National Development Plan’s goal of producing 30 000 skilled artisans per year.
